Accessible Media for the Blind

Born on June 3rd: Marion Zimmer Bradley, Anderson Cooper, Larry McMurtry, Rafael Nadal

Quote of the day: "Just because a man lacks the use of his eyes doesn't mean that he lacks vision." - Stevie Wonder

During the course of writing several books with characters who were blind or on the way to being blind (Blind Attraction and Her Millionaire, His Miracle) I immersed myself in the research. But, of course, as much as a person tries to put him or herself in another person's shoes, nothing is as effective as a first person account.

The YouTube Channel, Accessible Media, Inc. has set a goal of making all media, including the web, accessible for the blind. Here is a video of a day in the life of a man who is blind. Very enlightening.

Wishing you a wonderful day,

My son has a profound hearing loss, so I know how much technology can help: emails & mobile phone SMS etc. For him it's the visual that helps immensely.

Mary, whenever people criticize technology, I always think that they're not looking at the big picture. Perhaps we do rely on it too much at times, but it's opened windows that were closed before. Thank you for reminding me of that.
