Improv Everywhere does Black Friday at a 99 cent store.
At first I thought that this might be taking advantage of the store owner, but in the end I decided (as others noted) that 99 cent stores probably usually get very little business on Black Friday, this man got a lot of business along with free publicity and I'm sure the "shoppers" actually bought quite a lot. So in the end, it was just fun and everyone went away feeling good. (And I'm sure some of the shoppers got some good deals, too)!

I remember when I was young and there were a few "garage sales" in our small town. My mom refused to let me check them out, as they were for "poor people". (You have to understand that my mom had lots of issues, so to speak, with racism and control issues high up her ladder.) I have been organizing yard sales for our street once every year for the past 27 years (and mom died 17 years ago) - which means not only do I have all the work for everyone else (including newspaper ads, ordering/returning/setting up signs in several places), but I have also hosted my own "yard sale" every one of those years too. People love "getting deals" and I love not paying for things to go out in our garbage, LOL.
I can't imagine what my mom would think about dollar stores today. I frequent them ALL THE TIME and have for years. I think they are great for lots of merchandise (especially my scrapbooking supplies) and now even some foods/snacks are cheaper there too.
I'm glad the video's "shoppers" actually shopped in the store. It's a win-win situation for sure. Quite enjoyable. Thank you.
Elaine, I couldn't agree more about loving not having to pay for things to go out in the garbage. We usually have an annual garage sale (missed a few years), and when it's over, I visit the local thrift/charity shops and the library to donate some of the better leftovers. It feels good to have a cleaner house, too!
We're the type of people who can't not stop at a dollar store if we're driving through an unfamiliar town and see one. I especially love the ones that aren't chains, just for the interest factor. At this time of year, we usually visit them in search of calendars.
Picked up my 2013 monthly planner back in September - always at the dollar store. I used to frequent Staples and Office Depot a fair bit "in the day", but rarely go in these days because I prefer the dollar stores.
Yeah, I check out dollar stores in other places when I get the chance. I feel like a kid in a candy shop (and don't gain weight!).
