Happy Birthday, Pride and Prejudice!

200 years ago today a London newspaper announced the publication of Pride and Prejudice. And that single book set off a phenomenon that continues today with movies, book spin-offs, tours and clubs. 2013 will see a year-long celebration of all things Jane Austen (and I may do some special posts myself), but for today, I'll simply post this trailer from the 2005 movie and say, "Thank you, Jane Austen."

I do love PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, but this movie did not do it justice at all.

Mary, that's interesting. This is the one version (that I know of) that I haven't yet seen. I used it because it was the most recent, but I have to admit to being partial to the Colin Firth version. I even like the old Laurence Olivier movie, but a lot of purists hate it. I understand that, since it isn't as true to the book as other versions. I just liked Olivier as Darcy.
