Concentrating on the Happy Parts of Life

We hear so much about what's wrong in the world. Let's take a moment to think about what's right. Soul Pancake did just that, asking people what their good news was. Just watching this made me feel a bit happier.

Reminds me of Oprah keeping a grateful journal where she listed 5 things each day. I started doing that years ago, but now I don't write them down. I think of them every single day instead.
This morning, my list includes being wide awake (as I had a rough night sleeping last night), my washer/dryer operate properly (as I have a ton of laundry to do today, and so far so good), grocery shopping is done for the week (so I don't have to mix in with the crowded stores/highways), my house is "company worthy" (although I plan on dusting and vacuuming this afternoon), and my knees went down the steps "properly" this morning (meaning my osteoarthritis isn't as bad as it could be, what with rain imminent).
All in all, a great day so far. Hope yours is too, Myrna!

Sometimes I forget to think of the little things I'm grateful for (I'm a bit of a worrier), but today I'm thankful that my sons are both employed in meaningful jobs they enjoy, that our old cars continue to run, that I have plenty of good books waiting to be read, that the rain held off while we got our outdoor chores done yesterday and that our tomatoes are beginning to ripen (we are not blue ribbon gardeners, so this is an accomplishment for us).

Elaine, I'm having company on Tuesday but my house is not company ready yet! Tomorrow I dive in and start cleaning.

My MIL is on her way here and what am I doing? Talking to you. Priorities, LOL!!!
I still haven't dusted or vacuumed, and I just don't care. We are dogsitting for the neighbours behind us, but Riley (a St. Bernard who turns two this week) won't enter our house (or anyone else's but the owners'). So ... we let her out in her own backyard area several times a day, and we keep her in her garage or house (whatever she wants). Right now she is in our carport watching my daughter clean her car. I spent an hour out there with her, getting my face/neck licked over and over again, and we played lots. Figured I'd give her a break (yeah, I said her and not me, LOL).
Good luck on Tuesday!!! What's that quote? Don't sweat the small stuff! Just enjoy the moment(s).
