Another favorite from a few years ago is The Secret Life of Cowboys, the tale of a young man who, undecided about his future, decides to head west into the land where cowboys roam. Again, I love discovering what was going through his mind and what led him to make the choices he made. Plus, I learned a lot about the life of a cowhand at a time when I was writing a cowboy romance. A fascinating coming of age story.
Miles from Nowhere: A Round the World Bicycle Adventure is the story of a young husband and wife who decide that if they don't have an adventure now they might never get the chance. So they set out to bicycle around the world. A warm and humorous account of the couple's 2-year trip through 25 countries.
Last but not least is one of my all time favorites, by renowned author Bill Bryson. I've read a lot of his books, but A Walk in the Woods remains my favorite. Filled with humor that made me smile and sometimes laugh, Bryson (and an ill-equipped friend) set out to hike the Appalachian trail. If you've never read this, I highly recommend it. (In fact, I had to buy a new copy recently. Ours was loaned out and never returned. That's all right. Hopefully, someone is enjoying it).

My daughter introduced me to Bill Bryson's books. They are clever & hilarious.
Mary, I haven't read all of his books yet, but I've enjoyed all the ones I've read. I find myself nodding and smiling my way through (and sometimes laughing out loud).
