Maps, Maps, Maps!

I've always loved maps. I like the logic of them, the fact that they can lead me from one place to another, keep me from getting lost, or tell me something about distant places I've never visited (and may never visit). That's not to say that I haven't gotten lost a time or two even with a map in my hand. We were once in Idaho looking for a place called Balanced Rock and we ended up driving through back roads with cows roaming everywhere including the road, so we found lots of balanced cows but no balanced rocks. (A few years ago we went back and with some careful directions from a local managed to find it).

I love Google maps and all the special features. I like Bing's birds eye view. I like the maps that tell me about more than geography, too. They're all fun. So I was happy that Hank Green's latest video was about maps.

I highly recommend that you click through to the YouTube page and look at the About section beneath the video. Then click on "Show more." You'll find loads of links to interesting maps, enough to keep any map geek interested for hours. 

But if that's not enough, how about some books? Although I haven't read any of the ones listed below, they're on my to-read list now that I know they exist.
