What is Labor Day All About?
Today is Labor Day, but...what exactly does that mean? We (here in the United States at least) get so used to the Labor Day sales, picnics and family gatherings that we often forget its significance. We tend to think of this weekend as the official end of summer, even though summer really doesn't officially end then and while we enjoy having the day off, very few people stop to contemplate the reason for the day off.
But it is a significant day. It's a national holiday, and those days are not chosen lightly. So, what's it all about really? Here's a TEDEducation video that explains why Americans and Canadians celebrate this day.

Learn something new every day! Thanks!
This morning I hope to peel/wash my daughter's Dalmation border from the wall tops in her old room (as she moved out last Wednesday). This afternoon we're having friends over for a barbecue. I like the balance of that.
I hope you and your family enjoy the holiday too, Myrna.
Elaine, thank you! Sounds like you have a busy day (with a very nice ending). Labor Day is always a bit more relaxing than other holidays (which is very nice). I hope the day is filled with joy!
