What I'm Reading Now

Well, actually I'm not reading it now. I just finished reading Alice at Heart by Deborah Smith. It's a book I've been meaning to read for years and just...well, actually I forgot about its existence until I saw it online the other day. You have to like books that are a bit different (there are mermaids, very awesome mermaids), but I do. So I was totally caught up in it (sorry. I didn't mean that to be a fish pun). Anyway, it was worth the wait.

Maybe I was in the mood for something like this because I had just watched Sandra Bullock in Practical Magic again. It's a totally different tone (but then Alice Hoffman's book, Practical Magic, was a totally different tone from the movie, too). But part of what appealed to me in both were the strong female leads (and the magic stuff).

Two other books I like that fall into that strong women/woo woo category are Dogs and Goddesses by Anne Stuart, Jennifer Crusie and Lani Diane Rich as well as The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes by Jennifer Crusie, Anne Stuart and Eileen Dreyer. Fun!

I've watched it twice (and probably will watch it again). It's a fun movie!
