Just fill any bottle with water, jam the cork in and sprinkle away. What could be easier? (My answer: buying clothing that doesn't need to be ironed, but then that's just me).

There are even a few people still using these things (and you can buy vintage ones online)! As you can see, the washer has a wringer to wring the clothes out, since there was nothing like a spin cycle. My mother used a stick to push the clothes through the ringer, since there weren't any safety mechanisms on the machines.

My mother always used a brandy bottle with a special top to sprinkle the ironing with water. Chances are she still has it. It was blue.
At one place we lived we would find green tree frogs sitting on the wringer. My mother would have to go hunting for someone to remove it/them before she could do the wash. I don't know why they liked the wringer.
Mary, the blue bottle sounds lovely (I love it when functional items are also pretty). And the tree frogs? Proof that nature is both strange and amazing?
