Whenever I visit Bar Harbor, Maine, I love to stop in at Sherman's Book Store. It's not the prettiest store and it definitely isn't the largest, but it's a staple of the town and a testimonial to the power of the written word. The fact that it's been there since 1886...well, how awesome is that?
They used to print the newspaper (they don't do that anymore) and they have four other stores in Maine that I've never visited, but I can attest to the fact that Sherman's is a great resource for information on Maine (which is, as I'm sure I've mentioned before, one of my favorite places). This shop feels like a piece of history, and I'm glad it's still there.
