Along the same lines, here are the instructions to make some larger bags from materials most of us have at home. (Note: the beginning of this is mostly the woman in the video promoting her favorite craft site, so if you want to get right to the instructions, skip ahead to about 1:44).
Having ended up scrounging for wrapping paper at the last minute several times, I love the fact that the first bag she made was from newspaper. I think I can do better than that, but it's nice to know that in a bind, I could come up with the materials to wrap a gift. I always have plenty of ribbon, because years ago when a local craft store was going out of business, I managed to snag a number of large spools of curling ribbon in different colors.

I enjoyed both links immensely. I bought a Red Green jigsaw puzzle (at a thrift shop for 10 cents) awhile ago, and inside was a large poster of Red Green. We know someone who loves Red Green, so NOW I can use that paper to make a gift bag for him. BTW, I used a previous poster (from my own puzzle) to make a gift box (per your Nov/12 blog instructions), and the guy (and his wife) loved it. I also used a Tim Hortons large wall calendar to make a bigger gift box another year (also per your blog).
