The Perfect Traditional Romance Heroine

Whenever I finish a book, I submit information to help the artist render a cover that personifies the book. That includes descriptions of characters, mood, scenes and I also usually send some images to help ensure that the  hero and heroine on the cover match (somewhat) my view of them. To their credit, Harlequin has given me some beautiful, luscious covers over the years. I try to do my part to make sure that that continues.

So, I was thinking the other day about what celebrities fit my idea of the traditional romance heroine. And...while I've never sent her image in as an example (I guess I just haven't written her book yet), I think that Sandra Bullock would definitely be high on that list. I haven't seen all of her movies, but here are a few that gave me a smile.

While You Were Sleeping

Hope Floats

The Lake House

Practical Magic

There are others, of course, that I liked (Miss Congeniality, Love Potion #9, Speed, The Blind Side, to name a few) and others I haven't yet seen. So...what do you think? Sandra Bullock fan or not? And if so, what are your favorites?

And if you had to name a different actress as the perfect traditional romance heroine, who would it be?

Happy Viewing!

'Miss Congeniality' is a favourite movie of mine. 'Speed' of course was her big break & great viewing. I also love Reese Witherspoon. Both Oscar winners for a good reason.

Of all the modern-day actresses labeled as "America's Sweetheart", Sandra Bullock is my favorite! I think that Sandra is beautiful inside and out--and so funny and talented. "Hope Floats" is one of my special movies, and I'd love to see Sandra and Harry Connick, Jr. together in another film. I also very much enjoyed Sandra and Ben Affleck in "Forces of Nature". This is a funny, bittersweet film that ends the way it is supposed to, but you just wish it didn't have to end that way! In "Two Weeks Notice", Sandra and Hugh Grant are at the top of their charming, comedic best--love it & laugh out loud!

The Lake House is one of my favourite all-time movies. It is the only movie I have recorded (as I don't watch TV "live") in the past ten years (other than The Polar Express, which I fast-forwarded through). Loved the letters back and forth, and you can't go wrong with Keanu Reeves (again)!
I have enjoyed Julia Roberts and Diane Lane through the years too.

Oh good choice... my sister and I are fans of hers... my favs are Practical Magic & Miss Congeniality... she was also in The Net ( I believe that is the name )... great actress!
I find it weird when a cover does not match the book... I have seen a few that looked nothing like the character the author describes in their book...

My husband and I watch While You Were Sleeping every Christmas along with A Christmas Carol, Charlie Brown, etc. It is a tradition.

My other favorite is Miss Congeniality.

Sandra is just a fave for many reasons.

I just watched Miss Congeniality again last night. It was free to Amazon Prime members, so I wasn't going to let that pass. Just as much fun the second time around!

Now I want to work my way through all the others. I saw Practical Magic for the first time not long ago, but it's been a long time since I've seen While You Were Sleeping, The Lake House or Hope Floats (and yes, Harry Connick Jr. is a personal favorite here, too). I haven't gotten around to seeing her more recent ones other than The Blind Side. Any opinions on those?

And oh, yes, Reese Witherspoon is another favorite romantic lead!
