What Does the Word "Haven" Mean to You?

Sometimes I just like to choose a word and then wander around Flickr to see what images the word brings up. Today I chose the word "haven," a word which might mean different things to different people. Here are some of the results. (For more info on the images, please click through or click on the source below the image for more by the photographer).

Sorrow

Hunua Falls

Old-Fashioned

Sunset On Cinderella's Kingdom

Okay, I love all of them, but this is my favorite (because it's Chicago at sunset. Home. My own haven. It also happens to be by Stuck in Customs, one of my favorite photographers on Flickr. As mentioned above, I urge you to check out all of the sources. They have some beautiful and striking images).

Yes, they ARE beautiful images. Thank you, Myrna.
Last year, a word that kept "coming up" for me and my girlfriends was "ruthless". We tried to be ruthless with "stuff" around the house. This year, our word is "balance", hopefully incorporating a bit of that ruthlessness. When I'm sorting through drawers, I'm trying to get rid of as much as I can; when I'm doing a bunch for others, I try to make time for me too.
As with most things in life, though, it seems to be feast or famine around here. I did more things for others this past weekend, but by Wednesday I hope to be back to putting my name up higher on the priority list again. (We were asked to host a rehearsal tomorrow night for a 3-piece band of good friends of ours. We hosted last year for them and managed to have over 20 people in our small home; I'm thinking there might be closer to 30 this year. Just found out on Saturday, but have been swamped until today for making phone calls/emails. At least my house will be cleaner from all this!)

I'm glad you both enjoyed them. I love the fact that people are willing to share the beautiful photographs they take!

Elaine, I hear you on having a cleaner house. When we host the riders in June (I think there are 24 this year, all biking to raise money for cancer research/awareness), I tear the place apart getting ready. It's a little messy for awhile but ultimately cleaner when everything is done. Which is a nice thing.
