Fog can be powerful and frightening, and it's been used many times in novels and movies to create atmosphere, a sense of impending doom, a sense of danger. What version of any Jack the Ripper-themed movie fails to include fog? The inability to see the evil hiding in its depths creates automatic terror.
But despite its dangers, fog can also be incredibly beautiful and moving and awe inspiring. Watch the two videos below. Isn't fog amazing?

I love walking through the fog. Safer then driving that's for sure.
I think I would love walking in the fog, but Illinois is mostly flat (the plains), so we don't often get fog the way the coastal areas do. And if we do, it's usually so early in the morning that I miss it, despite being an early riser.
