Make Your Own Gift Bag

I've had several posts here on gift wrapping (and will probably have more in the future. It's a weakness of mine, I guess). I'm a fan of gift bags, because a) I'm sometimes lazy and b) It's really difficult to mess up gift wrapping when you use a pretty bag.

These days, gift bags can be purchased at dollar stores and other places without breaking the bank. But if you want to recycle and save money, an empty cereal box and some paper will also do the trick. Here's a step by step Instructable that uses maps or sheet music (or any other paper you like) to do the trick.

And if you prefer a video tutorial, this one adds a pretty silk flower decoration.

Have fun!

My mother loves using gift bags. I always give them back to her to be re-used.

Mary, we have some that have been circulating for awhile. Now and then I have to cull them.

We reuse ours too. My girlfriends and I keep using the same bags every single time for each other: it's sacrilegious to use a new bag, LOL!
Thanks for the tutorial, Myrna. I had never thought of making a box into a gift bag/box, but it makes sense - especially with all the decorations I have on hand, duh!
Heading back into Canada today. Will TTYL!

Elaine, it's a challenge to keep those bags looking fresh and new sometimes, isn't it? (I do enjoy thinking up new ways to dress them up).
